CONTRIVED
- Deliberately
created rather than arising naturally.
Contrived Experiences are
“edited” copies of reality and are used as substitutes for real things when it
is not possible to bring or do the real thing in the classroom.

TEACHING WITH CONTRIVED
EXPERIENCES
Teaching with contrived experiences is one way of
representing things that are not available inside the classroom, instead of
representing a real thing for learning the teacher here uses other alternatives
like models, mock ups, specimen and objects to represent the real thing that a
teacher cannot provide in reality. So with this method by showing or providing
a substitute wherein there are things or events that may be beyond the learners
grasp, it will help a lot for the learning process. This will assist the
learners to learn what they must learn about the certain topic even if the real
example is absent. We use contrived experiences to overcome limitations of
space and time, to “edit” reality for us to be able to focus on parts or
process of a system that we intend to study, to overcome difficulties, to
understand inaccessible; and help the learner understand abstractions.
In my experience and the ideas that I learn during the
discussion using one of the contrived experiences which is the model, I can say
that it really give a great impact and benefits to learners. It makes them
attentive to listen because of the model they witness in font that is new to
them. Another thing is in their part; the lesson is more understandable and
acquired learning effectively. One of the advantages also of the Model is to
provide motivation and enhance learning. Although contrived experiences or these
things aren’t real, at least the learners will not be ignorant about a certain
thing that they didn’t see in reality because they’ve seen and experience it
with the help of the teacher’s contrived experiences.
Therefore,
it is consider as an effective tool in learning and one of a good strategy in
teaching.
